For over 40 years, the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation (JMCF) has worked hand in hand with Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC). This connection is central to its identity: it is embedded in its name, its raison d’être and the very history of its creation. The JMCF proudly affirms its commitment to continuing its mission of supporting JMC, while looking to the future in a spirit of continuity and sustainability. JMC celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2024 and the Foundation celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The Foundation’s main activity is to raise funds to enable JMC to continue its educational concerts, tours, training programmes and initiatives to support the next generation. It acts as a true philanthropic lever, giving these initiatives the strength to shine across the country and highlighting their impact to donors.
Through this strategic planning, the Foundation explores the ‘why’ of its existence –
- Because music transforms lives.
- Because it allows young people to discover themselves, to dream, to project themselves into a better future.
- Because it creates bonds, builds confidence and promotes a more inclusive and supportive society.
- Because access to culture should never depend on income, community or postcode.
- And because every donation, every commitment, every gesture can help change lives.
This plan expresses the Foundation’s desire to better serve those who support it. It reminds us that their contribution is not limited to supporting an organisation: it changes trajectories, awakens vocations and opens doors. The Foundation wishes to build a relationship with them based on trust, impact and recognition.
This document is the result of rigorous work by a committed planning committee that is attentive and resolutely forward-looking. The Foundation would like to warmly thank the members of this committee, chaired by Michelle Mercier and composed of Jean-François Binette, Véronique Desjardins, Claude Gagliardi, Jeremy Ghio and Florence Junca Adenot. Their contribution has been essential to the development of this vision.
The coming years will be an opportunity for the Foundation to transform this vision into concrete, sustainable and transformative actions — for young people, for music, for society and for JMC.
