BIOGRAPHY

Duo Écho

Florence Laurain, flute
Chloé Dumoulin, piano

Duo Écho is a newly formed ensemble composed of flautist Florence Laurain and pianist Chloé Dumoulin, both prolific musicians in their field. Having previously collaborated during their studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and found themselves on the same stage at the 2024 Prix d’Europe as finalists, where Chloé won the Third Grand Prize and Florence won three prizes: the Canadian Music Center in Quebec Award, the Next Generation Award and the Academy of Music of Quebec Award. Shortly after, they both figured on CBC’s 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30.

After their studies at the Conservatoire, both decided to continue their development internationally, either at the Haute école de musique of Geneva for Florence in the class of Jacques Zoon, an internationally renowned flautist, or at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London for Chloé, in the class of Ronan O’Hora. These two musicians are now young professionals: Florence has been second flute at the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM) for two years now and Chloé performs regularly as a soloist or chamber musician in various concerts, ensembles and destinations. They’ve been brought together through a common interest in playing more music composed and performed by women.
