ARTIST RESIDENCY KRYSTINA MARCOUX: REDISCOVER A JMC ARTIST

Posted by MM | October 6, 2026

Montreal, October 1st, 2026 – Beginning October 15, Montreal audiences will have the opportunity to hear the talented and dynamic marimbist Krystina Marcoux at Jeunesses Musicales Canada’s (JMC) Joseph-Rouleau Hall. A multidisciplinary artist recognized for her musicality and theatrical flair, Marcoux has been selected as JMC’s artist-in-residence for the 2026–2027 season.

Through this residency, she invites music lovers to explore the world of the marimba through a variety of instruments and sounds. Piano, voice, and marimbas will join forces in a unique musical experience.

For the first concert of her residency, Krystina Marcoux and her collaborator, pianist Chloé Dumoulin, will present an exciting evening offering fresh perspectives on three iconic works by Gershwin, Saint-Saëns, and Stravinsky. Audience members are invited for a glass of wine at 6:00 p.m. before the concert at 7:00 p.m.

“I have so much admiration for Krystina’s infectious artistic energy, having known her for more than 10 years. She always throws herself wholeheartedly into a wide range of projects, making her a truly exceptional artist. Joined by her guests, pianist Chloé Dumoulin, marimbist Conrado Moya, and singer Caroline Gélinas, she will present three concerts that promise to be full of exciting discoveries.” – Danièle LeBlanc, Executive and Artistic Director, JMC

Created in 2021, JMC’s artist residency program is more than a space for creation. By giving former JMC artists carte blanche to develop and present three recitals, the residency serves as a unique professional incubator, fostering the development of key skills in management, programming, and artistic production.

Krystina Marcoux toured with JMC as part of her duo Stick&Bow in 2019–2020 and 2021–2022.
