JEUNESSES MUSICALES CANADA
RECEIVES A MENTION OF EXCELLENCE

MONTREAL, March 6, 2022 – Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JM Canada) is proud to be the recipient of a Mention of Excellence from the Conseil québécois de la musique – Webcast Concerts and Creations 2020-2021 in Young Audience Production for its digital concert Opéra-bonbon : l’aventure gourmande d’Hansel et Gretel. The citation was awarded at the 25th Opus Awards Gala, which took place virtually on March 6, 2022. The Mentions of excellence are a mark of recognition for outstanding musical achievements broadcast online by the Quebec music community.

“Opéra-Bonbon : l’aventure gourmande d’Hansel et Gretel is one of our most popular concerts. Adults often wonder if children will enjoy opera, but children are very open to the world of opera and love this concert! We must underline all the wonderful work done by the artists, JM Canada’s internal team as well as the entire direction and production team that helped bring this project to life. Director Marie-Julie Parent has brilliantly adapted Opéra-Bonbon from the stage to the screen,” said Clément Joubert, Director of Operations – Young Audiences at JM Canada.

“The pandemic was an opportunity for us to reinvent ourselves and find new ways to meet our mission. This Mention of Excellence for one of our concerts confirms that we have succeeded in offering workshops and concerts in digital format that are as rich and high quality as our in-person activities,” said Danièle LeBlanc, Executive and Artistic Director of JM Canada.

Since 2020, JM Canada has been offering a series of digital workshops and concerts to schools and institutions: the Digital Ballads. More than 135,000 children have benefited from musical activities across the country over the past two years.
