SEMAINE DE LA MUSIQUE – MARCH 4 TO 12, 2017

Over 50 concerts and workshops for young audiences across Greater Montréal

Montréal, February 22, 2017 – This year, experience March Break as a music fest for the whole family! The 13th Semaine de la musique organized by Jeunesses Musicales Canada will be presented in collaboration with the City of Montréal’s Accès culture network and with the generous contribution of Ms. Jacqueline Desmarais.

From March 4 to 12, over 50 mostly free concerts and music workshops for 3 to 12 year olds will take place in participating cultural centres, libraries, and performance venues across Greater Montréal.

More than 50 concerts and music workshops

JMC and its partners invite budding young musicians and their families to attend its fun, creative music workshops and learn how to make a musical instrument from recycled materials at its Do-It-Yourself Music Workshops, or try body percussion and rhythms of the world with our seasoned music instructors as part of our Body Beats activity.

Attend one of JMC’s many concerts and discover music through playful, theatrical performances. Don’t miss our new Harpmania production, a concert with an inspiring host who shares the fascinating secrets of the harp from the place this instrument occupied in the mythology of many ancient cultures, to the perfecting of its construction and its entry into symphony orchestras, all the way to its intriguing presence in video game scores.

This March 4, come and help us launch JMC’s Semaine de la musique and dance in your pyjamas in the basement of JMC House (located at 305 Mont-Royal Avenue East) from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Following last year’s smashing success, Jammies Jam is back again for a 2nd edition under the theme of “World Celebration.” In line with the 2017 theme of Montréal’s Nuit Blanche, highlighting the 50th anniversary of the Expo 67 World’s Fair, Jammies Jam – A World Celebration invites participants to spend an evening discovering the music and celebratory dance heritage of different countries around the world. Don’t miss this music- and dance-filled mini World’s Fair! Opa!
