Take part in JMC's artistic life and contribute to the vitality of the new generation of Canadian musicians. Constantly on the lookout for the cream of the crop of emerging artists from around the country, JMC holds auditions every year.

EMERGING ARTISTS CONCERTS | Instrumentalists | 2021-2022 Season

Every year, Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC) presents concerts in its touring network across Québec, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces.

Young musicians in the early stages of their careers are invited to submit a concert project through which they can communicate their love of good music and stimulate audiences to enjoy specific aspects of the world of music. The tours count up to twelve concerts over 4 to 6 weeks periods between September 2021 and April 2022.

OPERA PRODUCTION | Singers and pianists| 2020-2021 Season :  ​LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, by Donizetti

Every year, Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC) presents an opera in its touring network across Québec, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. Auditions are currently open for the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, which will be presented as part of the 2020-2021 season.

YOUNG AUDIENCES CONCERTS | Musicians/comedians and Comedians | Concert The Ones Who Dream...

Deadline for submitting applications: January 15, 2019 at 9 a.m.

Every year, Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC) presents a variety of theatrical concerts for young audiences, which circulate in concert halls, schools and daycares across the country. Auditions are currently open for roles in the concert The Ones Who Dream, which will be presented starting in 2019-2020.

THE ONES WHO DREAM…

In his dreams, a child meets characters that reveal traditional First Nations music to him and inspire him to compose his own original pieces. In this concert, you will hear various evocative instruments, including Native American flutes, traditional drums, and small percussion instruments. Through Indigenous music and songs, this theatrical concert will bring you into contact with the world of dreams and sounds and elements from nature.

 

JMC IS LOOKING FOR PERFORMERS FOR A CONCERT BASED ON THE THEME OF FIRST NATIONS MUSIC AND CULTURE:

  • Actor.tress-musician, for the role of the Indigenous child.
    • Preferably a member of the First Nations of Canada
    • Must be able to play Native American flute (6-hole wooden flute); note: any instrumentalist who plays the flute, clarinet, oboe, or saxophone will have no problem playing this flute
    • Must know or be able to learn some traditional songs from the First Nations of Canada repertoire by ear or with sheet music, to be sung while playing a traditional drum or rattle
  • Actor.tress, for the role of various nature and dream characters.
    • Preferably a member of the First Nations of Canada
    • Must be able to play different small instruments to create noises or sound effects
    • Must be comfortable with physical theatre in order to create masked characters
       

Actors must be comfortable performing in front of an audience of children aged 3 to 12, in both French and English.

Actors must be available for approximately 70 hours of rehearsals between February and October 2019.

The concert will be rehearsed before the public in June 2019 and will be included in regular programming starting in October 2019, then presented for the next 3 years in various theaters and Canadian schools.

Actors must be available (dates to be confirmed):

  • Every day from February 29, 2020, to March 8, 2020, inclusively, for concerts as part of La Semaine de la musique JMC.
  • From 7 to 10 days of performances at the Joseph Rouleau Hall in the spring of 2020.

The conditions of employment are defined according to JMC’s special agreements with the Union des artistes and the Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec.

Auditions are set to be held in Montreal on January 17 and 18, 2019.

YOUNG AUDIENCES CONCERTS | Pianists | Concert Jazz-Noisette

Deadline for submitting applications: January 24, 2018 at 5 p.m.

Every year, Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC) presents a variety of theatrical concerts for young audiences, which circulate in concert halls, schools and daycares across the country. Auditions are currently open for roles in the concert Jazz-Noisette, which will be presented starting in 2019-2020.

Auditions will be held in Montréal on February 12 and 13, 2019.
