The Ancestors
Three students at the “Memories and Roots” School—Lucienne, Simone, and Marie—find their lives dull. Fortunately, their music class adds spice to their daily routine. Their end of year concert focuses on the history of Haiti, their teacher Ms. Anna—herself of Haitian origin and passionate about culture, history, and of course music—passes on her knowledge and, above all, her passion to her students.
Inspired by their teacher, Marie, Lucienne, and Simone want to discover the “aïeules” or ancestors, the unsung heroines of Haitian history. Armed with their musical instruments, songs, games, and refrains they embark on mission to cross the fine line between reality and imagination, but will they be able to return?
This show, combining Haitian classical music, traditional songs, and the discovery of the exceptional women who shaped Haiti’s independence, will be available as of February 2026.
