Tango Landscapes : Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos and Kapustin is a spellbinding musical journey into the captivating world of Ensemble Passamano. A trio of instrumentalists who bring their strengths to bear in a variety of combinations, this concert brilliantly blends classical music, tango and the world of jazz. This tapestry of sound is a vibrant exploration of the sensual rhythms of Piazzolla’s Argentine tango, the evocative melodies of the eclectic Villa-Lobos and the virtuoso jazz-improvisation style of Kapustin.

Aidan Fleet, cello

Aidan Fleet studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Gatineau with Anne Contant from 2011 to 2019. He participated in programs such as the National Youth Orchestra, the Young Artists Program in Ottawa, the Domaine Forget Academy, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra mentorship program. In 2023, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal with Elizabeth Dolin.

He is a member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra and is currently completing his master’s degree at McGill University with cellist Matt Haimovitz. He plays on a 2004 cello made by Martin Héroux and an 1890 W.E. Hill and Sons bow generously loaned by Mr. Roger Dubois and CANIMEX INC.

 

Kevin Chen, piano

Kevin Chen began learning the piano at a young age and completed his studies at the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Quebec in Gatineau and in Montreal with Marlene Finn and Richard Raymond. He has performed with several orchestras, appeared on TV shows and received grand prizes at major competitions in Canada and the United States. He was a prizewinner at the Thousand Islands International Piano Competition and the Festival-Concours de Musique Classique in Sorel-Tracy. A member of Ensemble Passamano, Kevin is active as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. He is currently pursuing neuroscience studies at McGill University

 

Annie Noël-de-Tilly, flute

Annie Noël-de-Tilly is an emerging flutist from the Gatineau-Ottawa region. She won 2nd prize at the National Arts Centre Orchestra (NACO) Competition and was a semi-finalist at the 2025 Prix d’Europe. She completed her master’s degree in performance at the Université de Montréal in 2025 under Caroline Séguin, after earning a bachelor’s degree from the Gatineau Conservatory. Passionate about chamber music, she founded Ensemble Passamano, which won the Grand Prize at the Classival Competition and 1st prize at Rising Stars. Annie performs regularly with Music and Beyond, Ensemble Prisme, and other Canadian ensembles. She has attended the Orford and Domaine Forget academies and worked with masters such as Juliette Hurel, Mario Caroli, and Michel Bellavance. She plays a handmade silver Brannen flute and a grenadilla wood Haynes piccolo.


Ensemble Passamano

Founded in the spring of 2022 in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, Ensemble Passamano emerged from the shared desire of its members to explore and discover the repertoire written for flute, cello, and piano. Composed of Annie Noël-de-Tilly, Aidan Fleet and Kevin Chen, the name Passamano reflects their identity as three unique musical strands that intertwine to form a distinct harmony. Their first concerts in the fall of 2022 were a resounding success, leading to their first prize at the Rising Stars competition at Ottawa Chamberfest 2023, as well as the Grand Prize at the Classival competition at Salaberry- de-Valleyfield in 2024. With a clear artistic vision and a commitment to excellence, Passamano continues to enrich the musical landscape with captivating and innovative performances
