Since meeting at Cégep de Saint-Laurent and McGill University, the camaraderie between the members of the group was instant. From their very first musical encounter, a composition project began to take shape for the young musicians, and just a few months later, their self-titled debut album came to life—an album that was named among Radio-Canada’s best mid-year releases in 2020.
Following a series of performances in Montreal and across Quebec, the group fell in love with Gaspésie—its wonderful people and its breathtaking landscapes. It was in Pointe Sec, in the small village of Mont-Louis, that the group composed and arranged their second, more ambitious project, Aube/Nocturne.
A double album recorded at the renowned Studio Piccolo in Montreal, this project earned Solarium the Grand Prix de la Relève at the Festi Jazz International de Rimouski and allowed them to perform throughout the province for the past two years.
Their most recent album, Solarium III, was released in August 2025 and is the result of five years of camaraderie and deep listening among the band members. It draws on the best ideas from their debut while adding years of experience performing their unique blend of jazz and Québécois chanson across the province.
