Montreal – Thursday, March 26, 2026 — Jeunesses Musicales Canada is announcing the opening of two audition calls for emerging Canadian musicians: a touring opera production for the 2027-2028 season and JMC Concert tours for the 2028-2029 season. Applications accepted until: October 16, 2026!
Opera Production 2027-2028
The selected opera, Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, will be performed in French in a revised translation. The production will feature six singers and a pianist accompanist.
Selected artists will participate in the Festival d’opéra de Québec in summer 2027 before touring across Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritime provinces in the fall. This professional experience will allow them to perform in various venues and benefit from full artistic and logistical support.

JMC Concerts 2028-2029
JMC is also seeking artists and ensembles in classical, jazz, or world music to create original concerts for the general public.
Applicants must propose a program of approximately 80 minutes built around a strong theme, including at least one Canadian work. Innovative and inclusive projects that reflect diverse audiences are encouraged, particularly those highlighting underrepresented or marginalized composers. As this touring period coincides with the 200th anniversary of Schubert’s death, JMC is seeking instrumental proposals that will highlight this anniversary.
Three projects will be selected for a tour across Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritime provinces between fall 2027 and spring 2028. These tours offer artists a unique opportunity to develop their careers, engage with different audiences, and receive full artistic and logistical support.
