Montreal, QC — Thursday, February 19, 2026 – Jeunesses Musicales Canada is proud to announce the world premiere of its new young audiences concert, Les Aïeules (The Ancestors), on Tuesday, February 24, along with other performances on Wednesday, February 25 at Salle Désilets. The performances are presented as part of the School Adventures programme and in celebration of Black History Month.
Blending Haitian classical music with traditional songs from Haiti, the production follows three students who are inspired to discover the remarkable women who helped shape the history and independence of Haiti. Through music, storytelling, and imagination, Les Aïeules (The Ancestors) offers young audiences a vibrant journey into culture, heritage, and the power of remembering those who came before us.
According to Executive and Artistic Director, Danièle LeBlanc, “This piece is an introductory exploration of Haiti’s rich musical tradition and history. Thanks to Claude Dauphin, the inspiration behind this project, we have discovered a world teeming with engaging women and moving music.”
The concert will be showing again as part of the School Adventures programme at two of JMC’s partner venues, Théâtre Outremont and Théâtre Rouge, in the spring of 2027.
