Press Release
For Immediate Release
Montreal, January 9, 2026 — Building on the success of its first two editions, which helped spotlight outstanding emerging talent, the Fondation Jeunesses Musicales Canada is proud to announce the launch of the 3rd edition of the Iwan Edwards Young Choral Conductors Scholarship. This program continues to support and celebrate the next generation of choral conductors while honoring the enduring legacy of the late Iwan Edwards.
After two editions marked by high-quality applications and two magnificent journeys by the winners, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the promotion and development of young choral conductors across Canada. For this third year, it hopes to reach even more potential candidates nationwide.
Applications are now open. Passionate young choral conductors aged 35 and under are invited to submit their applications by March 5, 2026. The selected recipient will receive a $5,000 financial award to support a distinct project related to choral conducting.
To be eligible, applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
This award is part of an annual financial support programme dedicated to actively supporting emerging talent in choral conducting by offering concrete opportunities for professional development.
In the spirit of community mobilization, the Foundation warmly encourages members of the music community, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and professionals in the field to share this opportunity widely, so that as many young conductors as possible may discover and benefit from this unique award.
