Montreal, November 4, 2025 – The Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Renée Villemaire to its Board of Directors. She will also be joining the AIDA Scholarships Jury, a program that supports the professional development of emerging classical musicians from Quebec.
Holding a master’s degree in performance from the Université de Montréal, Renée Villemaire began her career as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach before turning to arts administration. Over the past fifteen years, she has held several leadership positions at major national cultural institutions, including the National Arts Centre Orchestra, where she coordinated large-scale projects such as the Visions Boréales festival and the Centre’s architectural renewal project. She later brought her analytical skills and deep knowledge of the arts sector to the Canada Council for the Arts as a Programme Officer.
From 2022 to 2025, Ms. Villemaire served as Senior Director, National and International Business Development at Gestion Son Image Inc. (GSI Musique), where she led partnership development and the production of major symphonic events such as Harmonium symphonique and Riopelle symphonique. Her recent experience also includes participation in international trade missions and cultural delegations in East Asia and Mexico.
Since completing her mandate with GSI Musique in the fall of 2025, Renée Villemaire is now focusing on philanthropy, a path that allows her to combine her artistic commitment with her strategic acumen. She is delighted to contribute to the mission of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation, which supports young talents and promotes the discovery of classical music among young audiences.
