Instrument: flute

A member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and a laureate of the Prix d’Europe in 2005, Jocelyne Roy is one of the finest young flautists of her generation. She is a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montréal, where she received her degree with great distinction, of the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Music, and of the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she studied
under the tutelage of Robert Langevin. She also furthered her training at the Stuttgart Festival, in Germany, with Helmuth Rilling and Jean-Claude Gerard. A very busy musician, she regularly appears in concert and in recital with major orchestras or as a soloist. In fact, last season, she took part in a major world tour with the Orchestre de Verbier (for which she was principal flute) under the direction of Herbert Bloomstedt and Claus Peter Flor, as well as a Canadian tour with the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal.

The recipient of scholarships from the Canada Council for the Arts and the University of Ottawa, Jocelyne Roy has also recorded two recitals for the Radio-Canada radio network, which were broadcast from coast to coast as part of the Young Artists series.
