Instrument: mezzo-soprano
Originally from the Ottawa Valley Region Jillian Yemen is a graduate of the Master of Operatic Performance Program at the University of Toronto. Most recently Jillian sang the role of Sesto in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, took part in an Handel intensive with the Britten-Pears festival, and played Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia. As an Opera Lyra Ottawa Studio Artist she performed as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Frau Viehmann in The Brothers Grimm, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Grand mother and Mother in Little Red Riding Hood. Some recent reviews such are: “Mezzo Jillian Yemen has a luxuriant voice that’s wonderfully dramatic” (Monday Magazine), and “Jillian Yemen sang Ino with a luscious mezzosoprano” (National Post).
