Ainsley Soutiere

 
 

Instrument: soprano

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Ainsley Soutière obtained her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from The Juilliard School, and her Master of Music degree from the Thornton School of Music (USC). Recent performances include Rosemary in Thornton Opera Program’s Summer and Smoke, and Nettie in the USC Theatre Department’s production of Carousel. Ainsley Soutière performed many other roles such as: Sarah in Mozart’s Magic Fantasy with the Calgary Opera; Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Juilliard Opera Workshop; Cis in Albert Herring with the Aspen Opera Theatre Center; and Mustardseed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Juilliard Opera Center. She has also appeared in Massenet’s Werther, Rorem’s Our Town, Beach’s Cabildo, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Debussy’s L’Enfant prodigue, Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and Cavalli’s Eliogabalo.

Ainsley Soutière has recently completed a year with the Seattle Opera’s internship program and this past spring she joined Portland Opera as a member of their Opera To Go! program. Soutière will be performing the role of Adina in the Portland Opera To Go!’s spring touring production of The Elixir of Love.

Ainsley Soutière is a past recipient of numerous awards, grants and scholarships from such organizations as the Calgary Opera, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Northern Star Foundation, the USC and The Juilliard School.
